Axiom Presents “Valuing Financial Practices for Buy-Sell Arrangements” at NFP Spring 2005 Conference
Irving, TX – Roger Winsby, President of Axiom Valuation Solutions, spoke at the Buy-Sell Planning session at the National Financial Partners’ (NFP) Spring 2005 Conference here. Mr. Winsby presentation was titled “Valuing Financial Practices for Buy-Sell Arrangements”. This session included a related presentation by Robert Hilzenrath, Vice President of NFP in New York.
While most financial advisers are advocates of their business owner clients having buy-sell agreements funded by insurance, many of these advisers have not put in place this type of protection for their own financial practices. While there are available information sources on valuing financial practices where the selling principal(s) are around to assist in the transition to the buying principal(s), there has been little information on how to value financial practices when there is an unexpected termination, most likely from death or disability.
Mr. Winsby presented the Axiom approach to this situation where one or more principals depart, and how the different lines of business are impacted. This approach was developed from a detailed study of principal production and product line revenue and expense of an NFP affiliated firm, and covers the “going concern” value of the business, the value in a planned business transition, and the value in case of unexpected termination.
